Rethink Waste Awarded Business Beautification Award

The San Carlos Chamber of Commerce will recognize Rethink Waste on January 19.

RethinkWaste will be awarded the 2011 Business Beautification Award by the San Carlos Chamber of Commerce for its work on the Shoreway Environmental Center.

“We are excited to receive this award in recognition for our Shoreway masterplan improvements,” said Kevin McCarthy, Executive Director of Rethink Waste. “These improvements have resulted in lowering operating expenses at the facility, a much improved customer service experience with no traffic back-ups, and more unloading space all the while providing nearly 100 local jobs.”

The Shoreway Environmental Center underwent more than $47 million in reconstruction and improvements, resulting in a new 72,000 square foot Materials Recovery Facility; a 14,780 square foot expansion of their transfer station; a new environmental education center; a new public recycling center; and a new scale house and other traffic enhancements.
