Palo Alto Medical Foundation Breaks Ground

The long-awaited construction of the medical foundation begins tonight. .

Local officials, health care advocates and San Carlos residents are invited to attend the groundbreaking of a health care clinic in the city this evening.

Palo Alto Medical Foundation is building the San Carlos Center on an 18-acre site at 301 Industrial Road.

Construction of the first phase of the project -- an outpatient health clinic and parking structure - is expected to take about two years.

The second phase of the project, which includes a four-story hospital, has not been scheduled.

The hospital plan was approved by the San Carlos City Council in 2007.

The groundbreaking is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. and will include speeches by Palo Alto Medical Foundation executives and elected officials, ceremonial shovels, and toasts to the start of construction.
