New Restaurants Crop Up on Laurel Street

With the passing of old-time favorites like the English Rose, a new crop of restaurants are opening up on Laurel Street; some Facebook followers react to the English Rose's closure.

The English Rose will become a Moroccan restaurant, Morty's is gone, a new wine bar is opening next to 888 Ristorante Italiano and it looks like the former Pilita is changing hands.

Here are a few comments left on Facebook today by fans of the English Rose:

"It is gone forever. Owners quit after and returned to their old (unrelated) jobs."

"It was sold and the new owner's closed it after a short run .We are looking forward to the new Moroccan restaurant Tagine taking it's place.I hope it's as good our favorite Moroccan place Aziza in SF. It's seems like it was bad year for the British Empire with the closing of the British store on El Camino and the English Rose."

"Well, shoot. Anybody have any recommendations (other than Lisa's in MP) for a nice tea experience on the peninsula?"

"What a sad loss for San Carlos.""

"Well, at least the new restaurant wont be Italian... we have enough of those. Moroccan sounds good!"
