Masterworks Chorale: San Carlos Voices to be Heard on High

Masterworks Chorale and Ragazzi Boys Chorus will team up for an uplifting spring concert this weekend at the Carlmont High School Performing Arts Center. 16 members of the chorus are from San Carlos and Belmont.

Did you know 16 of your San Carlos and Belmont neighbors and friends are singing with Masterworks Chorale and Ragazzi Boys Chorus in the uplifting “Mass for The Children” at Carlmont’s new Performing Arts Center this weekend?  What a way to welcome Spring!

This joyous concert joins singers from raging in age from 8 to 80, (160 singers in total), just as Ragazzi celebrates its 25th anniversary and Masterworks leads into its 50th.  It’s time to find out what wonderful music they make together – and relish the quality this quality of sound in your own backyard.

Bryan Baker, artistic director of Masterworks for over a decade, just received the Diamond Award from San Mateo County for individual artist, thanks not only to his 11 years with Masterworks but also to his overall musicianship as a pianist, teacher and amazing choral director – attested to by the thrilling sound you’ll hear at this concert.

Masterworks and Ragazzi have also won the Diamond Award as arts organizations, for their caliber of creativity, expressiveness, and ethereal transporting of audiences and singers alike.  Come join in this transformative evening on Saturday March 23rd at 8, or Sunday March 24th at 4 p.m.

You’ll enjoy Ticheli’s “There Will Be Rest”, a serenely beautiful poem by Sara Teasdale, Mendelssohn’s “Laudate Pueri”, the vibrant American folk song “Hark, I Hear The Harps Eternal”, Moses Hogan’s exciting arrangement of the spiritual, “Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel?” and a special arrangement of “Greensleeves” by Jameson Marvin.

Joyce Keil started Ragazzi Boys Chorus 25 years ago with 7 boys in her living room, and today Ragazzi alumni sing with Masterworks Chorale, continuing that tradition of excellence in expressive sound.  Once you’ve heard us sing, consider auditioning to join in the fun as well.
