Avanzino Wins San Carlos Arts Award

Thanks to Donna Avanzino's theater management expertise, the San Carlos Children's Theater just wrapped up its 100th production.

Patience, creative problem solving and artistic vision are just a few of the traits required to successfully manage a children's theater. So for a theater manager to be able to say she's successfully helped stage a company's 100th production, is something very special.

In recognition of her contributions to the San Carlos Children Theater (SCCT), theater manager Donna Avanzino was recently honored with the 2013 San Carlos Arts and Culture Achievement Award. Under Avanzino's management, SCCT wrapped up its latest production, Wizard of Oz, last weekend.

The award, which is bestowed by the San Carlos Arts & Culture Commission,   honors individuals who are actively involved in promoting and enhancing artistic and cultural contributions within the city and who possess the highest standards of motivation, service, and by example have made a marked impact on the artistic or cultural components of our community.

In a statement on the City of San Carlos Facebook page, SCCT says of Avanzio's award, "SCCT always realized how valuable Donna is, and it's great to see the broader community recognize it as well. Thanks a million, Donna, for all you do!"

Have you attended any SCCT productions? What was your favorite?
