It's the ultimate in literary circulation---take a book, leave a book. No more no less.
The Little Free Library, which is located in the front yard of a home on Cordilleras Avenue in San Carlos, is part of a worldwide network of free mini-libraries, where members of the community can stop by at anytime to borrow a book. The only thing that's asked of the borrower is that he/she leave a book in return.
Borrowers may select from a small collection of both fiction and non fiction books--both for adults and children.
According to the Little Free Library's website, the goals of the program are:
- To promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide.
- To build a sense of community as we share skills, creativity, and wisdom across generations
- To build more than 2,510 libraries around the world - more than Andrew Carnegie--and then more.
