As if on cue, the wind stopped and the sun shone for the opening evening festivities of in Burton Park.

Musicians from San Carlos's elementary and middle schools performed and festival-goers put down their blankets and lawn chairs Friday evening for the official start of Hometown Days.

Proceeds from the event benefit the San Carlos Education Foundation (SCEF).
