Kiwanis Club to Host Child Safety Day

The event will take place this Saturday on the playground at Central Middle School.

The Kiwanis Club of San Carlos is hosting a Child Safety Day, in partnership with the San Carlos Police Bureau, the San Carlos Fire Department, and San Carlos School District Wellness Program on Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Central Middle School playground on Cedar Street.  

This event is expected to benefit more than 100 children in our community, ages 5 - 12, who will learn and participate in safety education and activities.

The San Carlos Police Bureau will provide bicycle obstacle and street safety trainings and activities. Kiwanis will be giving out new helmets, while supplies last, to be fitted on children who will participate at the bicycle safety training. There will be free car seat inspections. The Fire Department will provide home safety and emergency preparedness education.  Safety coloring books will be given to those who complete the home safety training.  Children's ID Kits will be given to parents.

Throughout the day, free raffles of bicycle safety gear and home safety gadgets will be given out to winners. Food station will be set up to provide healthy snacks and drinks to children.  An entertainment station will be managed by the Carlmont High School Key Club to engage the children in sports activities and crafts making.

The ultimate goal of this event is that each child who leaves this event will leave more safety conscious than when they arrived, thereby, decreasing their chances of being injured.  Let's help in keeping our children safe while they have a great time, learning, riding, eating, laughing, and being with family and friends.  Join the Kiwanis Club of San Carlos, San Carlos Police Bureau, San Carlos Fire Department, and San Carlos District Wellness Program in making this event a memorable one to the children in our community.
