Cutest Dog Contest Closed: Winner Announced Friday Morning

Thank you for participating in the Cutest Dog in San Carlos Contest---so many great looking pooches in this town, but only one winner. Patch will tabulate the votes and announce the winner of the $25 Bow Wow Meow gift card on Friday morning.

 

Is your dog good looking enough for Patch stardom?

Today kicks off San Carlos Patch's new contest, "Who's the Cutest Dog in San Carlos?"

Upload a photo of your four-legged best friend to this article, and in the caption be sure to add your name and your dog's name.

Then, readers are invited to vote for the dog they think is the cutest in the comments.

What does the winner get? First place gets a gift certificate to the local pet store, in San Carlos, and a Patch water bottle. Second place gets a reusable canvas Patch tote bag!

BE SURE TO DIRECT YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY to this article so they can vote for your dog, or enter their own!

 

OFFICIAL RULES, DEADLINES & INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, who are 18 and older.
  • To enter, click on "Upload Photos and Videos" above and add a photo of the dog you wish to enter. Be sure to include your name and your dog's name in the photo's caption so people can vote for you.
  • All entries must be received and votes must be logged by 5 p.m. on Thurday, Sept. 13.
  • You may enter each dog only once. If you have more than one dog you wish to enter, you may enter each dog once.
  • Readers who wish to vote for their favorite dog should leave a comment in the comments section of this article naming the dog they wish to vote for. The winner will be determined by which dog receives the most votes. If there is a tie, the editors of San Carlos Patch will determine the winner.
  • The owner of the winning dog will receive a $25 gift card to the local pet store at 737 Laurel St. in San Carlos, and a Patch water bottle. The owner of the runner-up dog will receive a Patch canvas tote bag.

Photo entries and voting in the comments section will be open through 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 13, and the winner will be announced bright and early Friday, Sept. 14!

(Although, here's a tip - upload your photo as soon as possible so you have the most time to receive votes by readers!)

If the city council likes fake plastic nature, then let them saran-wrap their own yards! LEAVE OURRead More PARKS ALONE!! This is soccer special interest pressure on city government at its worst, and the city council appears unwilling or unable to withstand it. Crestview Park is a particularly quiet, serene, simple park with lovely views which the council now wants to turn into a sports arena. Any day you can go there and see families playing on the grass, toddlers and moms enjoying picnics and play time, kids learning to ride their bikes on the nice flat paved area, athletes and older folks enjoying the flat natural track (the only one in San Carlos) to get in shape, teens throwing frisbees on the lawn. It is a perfect place for ALL residents to enjoy according to their needs, not a sports arena dedicated to one activity at the expense of all. Belmont faced a similar lack of sports venues, but they did not choose to pave paradise. They wisely raised money and built a sports complex and spared their beautiful parks for use by ALL residents. I would like to see our city council do the right thing also. And by the way, the opposition to this short-sighted plan is far more than "some residents"! Please visit our booth at Hometown Days.

One summer my kid had soccer camp on at an artificial turf field. It was terrible. It madeRead More everything hotter and very uncomfortable. I had to pull my kid out of camp early because of it. I do not think it is better for the environment OR for kids. Just go to any turf field and try to walk across it on a hot day. Try to go barefoot on it (good luck!) We have been told not to microwave plastic containers because of BPA and bad chemicals that can cause cancer. What about heating up plastic grass and running around on it, breathing the fumes that come off it?? How is that any different?

Artificial turf is appropriate for dedicated use sports venues, not for multi-use city parks.
