Steve and Kate's Camp Announces San Carlos Location

MILLVALLEY, California (February 15, 2012)—Now in its 32nd year, Steve & Kate’s Camp has expanded to 24 Bay Area locations and for the first time, 2 locations in Washington State. New locations in Fremont, Oakland, Walnut Creek, Burlingame, Los Altos Hills, Portola Valley, Almaden Valley, Bellvue, WA and Tacoma, WA mean more children now have the opportunity to explore everything from making their own clothes, to ice skating outdoors during summer, to interacting with a King Cheetah. To learn more about “the Steve & Kate’s way”, as well as see a comprehensive list of specific locations, visit www.steveandkate.com.

Thousands of Bay Area parents know that at Steve & Kate’s, campers step into a world packed with possibilities: for experiencing new sensations, for expressing themselves, for exploring their unique passions and potential. The results are unexpected, and they’re unexpectedly rich. They focus on how kids learn, not just what they learn. Kids get just the right amount of structure and guidance from adults, but they never take away ownership of their work.

Steve & Kate’s Camp is equally flexible for parents, with three different types of packages to choose from which offer ultimate flexibility in scheduling. Plus, they’re ALL INCLUSIVE and cover all hours from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, and include lunch, drinks and snacks and all activities.

Activities include:

Studios: The fully equipped studios are led by expert instructors. They’re camps within the camp where kids can lose themselves in uninhibited self-expression. Studios include: Filmmaking, Music Recording, Ceramics, Performing Arts, Culinary Arts and Style.
Weekly specials: Each week there is a mind-blowing new thrill – Bathtub Racer go-karts, ice skating, a parachute ride, a hurricane water slide. Expect the unexpected.
Daily specials: Every single day, all summer long, campers encounter wild new phenomena—a King Cheetah, a concert by David Grisman, cheese-making, mural painting on a 120-foot canvas. There are nearly forty unique specials over a complete summer.
Pure play: The choices for campers are virtually endless. They include a fully stocked library, thousands of wooden blocks, Karaoke, Dance Dance Revolution, all-camp events like Game Show and Find the Rubber Chicken, water weenies, stilts, jump ropes, slack lines, even timeless classics like kickball, capture the flag and Ultimate Frisbee.
Sports: Soccer, hockey, basketball and field polo action takes place in custom, kid-sized inflatable stadiums, where the ball never goes out and the action never stops.
Clubs: Campers unite around passions such as Dungeons & Dragons, chess, Double Dutch, juggling, even engineering.

Steve & Kate’s Camp is also known for the tantalizing variety of dishes made daily with the freshest ingredients available—local and organic whenever humanly possible. Each day for lunch campers can choose from a buffet of items such as sliders, noodles, flatbreads, rice bowls, salads and soups. They also can fuel themselves with additional fresh, healthy snacks and drinks all day long at the Rubber Chicken Café. All food at Steve & Kate’s is included in the camp fee.
"The children that attend Steve and Kate's blossom and discover a freedom of identity that, in a way, no other institution I've experienced has ever managed. Kids find their thumbprint at Steve and Kate's. My one complaint is: Where were they when I was a kid?" exclaimed Andrew Stanton, Academy Award-winning writer/director of FINDING NEMO and WALL-E

In addition to convenient locations, Steve & Kate’s is willing to go one better. Kids can attend any location that is still taking registrations at the time they enroll. No need to tear your hair out trying to figure out how many hours you will need in advance as the days, bundles and memberships are good anywhere you go. That’s right ANYTIME, ANY DAY at ANY LOCATION.

PLEASE NOTE: Specific dates vary by location and are subject to change depending on school calendars. Camp is closed on July 4th. For location and rate information call 415.389.KIDS or go to http://www.steveandkate.com/fees/.

If the city council likes fake plastic nature, then let them saran-wrap their own yards! LEAVE OURRead More PARKS ALONE!! This is soccer special interest pressure on city government at its worst, and the city council appears unwilling or unable to withstand it. Crestview Park is a particularly quiet, serene, simple park with lovely views which the council now wants to turn into a sports arena. Any day you can go there and see families playing on the grass, toddlers and moms enjoying picnics and play time, kids learning to ride their bikes on the nice flat paved area, athletes and older folks enjoying the flat natural track (the only one in San Carlos) to get in shape, teens throwing frisbees on the lawn. It is a perfect place for ALL residents to enjoy according to their needs, not a sports arena dedicated to one activity at the expense of all. Belmont faced a similar lack of sports venues, but they did not choose to pave paradise. They wisely raised money and built a sports complex and spared their beautiful parks for use by ALL residents. I would like to see our city council do the right thing also. And by the way, the opposition to this short-sighted plan is far more than "some residents"! Please visit our booth at Hometown Days.

One summer my kid had soccer camp on at an artificial turf field. It was terrible. It madeRead More everything hotter and very uncomfortable. I had to pull my kid out of camp early because of it. I do not think it is better for the environment OR for kids. Just go to any turf field and try to walk across it on a hot day. Try to go barefoot on it (good luck!) We have been told not to microwave plastic containers because of BPA and bad chemicals that can cause cancer. What about heating up plastic grass and running around on it, breathing the fumes that come off it?? How is that any different?

Artificial turf is appropriate for dedicated use sports venues, not for multi-use city parks.

Thanks for doing this. The one blatant thing I observe on a daily basis is the number and frequencyRead More of deputy's at Starbucks on 800 laurel street and the sky kitchen. I never see them in the neighborhoods. The police department was much better
