A good mechanic is hard to find, and harder to trust.
Readers have been sharing suggestions on our Facebook and Twitter accounts since last night. Names like Nordic Motors and Wood Service Center; or Spietri's in Belmont; or or Towne Ford or Fred's Garage in Redwood City were thrown around, among others.
"Nordic Motors is the best," said Cindy Wilson. "We have seriously considered buying a Volvo simply based on the fact that Nordic Motors is the finest mechanic in the Bay Area. We've gone there for fifteen plus years, as have my parents, and there's not another mechanic we trust as deeply as Carl."
Milly Simpson supported Spiteri's.
"A family owned shop," she said. "Very professional, quality work, they sure take pride of their work! A very clean shop too."

Brian James at Wise Transmission is the most honest mechanic around. He has helped us in many situations. That's who I would recommend.

Carl and Mike at Nordic Motors get my vote! They serviced two of my Volvos for almost 20 years and were impeccably honest, fair, and reliable, and frequently went the extra mile to make sure my car was serviced to my satisfaction. Two thumbs up!

Nielsen Automotive at 888 El Camino Real in San Carlos (Olympian Gas) does very good work at competitive prices. I trust my Corvetteto no one else! Their advice is honest, and they always meet deadlines. The owners do a lot of the work and are always present. It's a great repair shop, and that's why they are always busy!
You will not do better in San Carlos.

I use Nielsen Automotive for tires. I order them on www.tirerack.com and have them drop shipped there. Chris is the best! I would also recommend Gus at Cars Limited on Taylor in Belmont.

My Husbands uses Howard Ave radiator in San Carlos. We get personal service, and sice we go there for everything, he does alot of little thing for free. The shop and people are great, albiet a bit messy looking.
Mr Porpora. I like these types of questions. We can start our own San Carlos version of Yelp. Very Helpful.

Bob & Kevin's and Nielsen are great and located across from one another at Arroyo and ECR. Howard Ave. Radiator are good too. Bob & Kevin's are trustworthy, reliable, reasonably priced, and friendly.
